Reads like a real meter
The analyzer style is scaled the way a studio meter is, so what you see matches what you would see in your DAW rather than being spread out for looks. Sits on the floor of the frame or centred.
Peak tracking and highlights
A line traces the peaks and falls back slowly, so you catch levels that would otherwise flash past in a single frame. Loud standout frequencies get highlighted in their own colour so they lift out of everything else.

Analyser or visualiser? They are not the same thing
One is an instrument you read. The other is a picture you watch. Most tools quietly give you the second and call it the first.
What an analyser actually is
A spectrum analyser is a measuring instrument. The point is that you can read information off it: where the energy sits, whether the low end is piling up, which frequency is poking out and causing you problems.
A spectrum visualiser has a different job. It is there to look good in time with the music, and it is designed for how it looks rather than how accurately it reports.
Why the distinction matters for a video
Both are legitimate, and which you want depends on the post:
- Showing a mix, a plugin chain, or a technical breakdown: you want the analyser, because the audience is other producers who can read it.
- Promoting a track to listeners: you want the decorative styles, because nobody outside the studio cares how accurate the meter is.
- Posting a loud drop: the analyser with highlighting reads better than plain bars, because the standout parts of the mix separate visually.
Getting the analyser look out of the studio
The usual route to an analyser on video is screen recording your DAW, which drags the plugin UI, the window frame, and a landscape aspect ratio into the shot along with it.
