What making a visualiser in Blender actually involves

Blender genuinely can do this, and the best-looking audio-reactive 3D on the internet is made in it. The workflow is roughly: bake your audio to F-curves, wire those curves to object properties with drivers or geometry nodes, light the scene, then render.

Each of those steps is learnable. Together, on a first attempt, they are an evening. And the render queue means the feedback loop is slow: change something, render, look, change it again.

The modelling is rarely the slow part. The slow parts are:

  • Baking sound to F-curves and getting the frequency range and scale to read the way you expected.
  • Wiring drivers so the right property moves by the right amount, then fixing it when the motion is too subtle or far too much.
  • Lighting and materials, which is where a 3D scene either looks good or looks like an untextured grey blob.

Can Blender make a music visualizer?+
Yes, and a very good one. You bake the sound to F-curves, drive object properties from those curves, then render. The ceiling is unlimited. The cost is time: the first one realistically takes an evening, and every render goes through the queue.
Is BeatVisualiser a replacement for Blender?+
