Presets, or your own model
Choose from built-in objects including a hand, pixel cursors, and a set of abstract shapes. Or upload your own model and it becomes the centrepiece instead.
You set how it moves
Set the rotation speed, the angle it sits at, and how close the camera is. It turns on its own steady clock rather than jumping around, so it adds motion without fighting the rest of the frame.
Your video or artwork behind it
Put your own footage or your cover art behind the object so the frame has a foreground and a background. That separation is the whole point, and it is what makes a post look considered.
Depth is what separates a post from a screenshot
Everything reactive in the frame is flat. A slow-turning object behind it is what gives the picture a front and a back.
The problem with a single flat layer
Most music visuals live on one plane. A spectrum, a waveform, a scrolling line: they move, but everything is at the same distance from the viewer, and the eye reads that as a graphic rather than a scene.
It is why a lot of visualiser posts look similar even when the styles differ. There is nothing in the frame at a different depth to anything else.
What the 3D layer adds
Putting a real object in the frame changes the read, for a few reasons:
- It gives the frame a foreground and a background, especially with your own footage behind it.
- It turns steadily rather than reacting, so it adds motion during quiet passages where a reactive visual goes still.
- It carries identity. A hand or a set of cursors is a specific choice, where a spectrum is a default one.
- It catches light as it turns, which reads as depth even on a small phone screen.
Why it does not react to the audio
This is a deliberate split. The 3D object runs on its own clock at a speed you choose, and the reactive work is done by whatever else is in the frame.
Two elements both lurching on every kick cancel each other out and the frame reads as chaos. One thing turning steadily while another reacts gives the eye somewhere stable to rest, and the reactive element hits harder against it. If you want 3D that is genuinely driven by the track, the orb does exactly that, and the two are different tools for different jobs.
